(TULSA, Okla.)—The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames, conclude the season series against the Tulsa Oilers with the rubber game of this week’s three-game set. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. CDT on Sunday at the BOK Center.
LAST TIME OUT
The Rush scored three times on the power play, but fell short to the Tulsa Oilers, 5-3, at the BOK Center on Saturday. After playing a tight game—but not trailing—on Thursday, Rapid City played catch-up while never trailing by more than two tonight. Deni Goure answered Tulsa’s game-opening goal with a deflection late in the first period. David Gagnon scored off a faceoff at the tail end of a second-period power play. Blake Bennett hit a one-timer on a 6-on-4 in the final minute, but the Rush could not come up with the equalizer late.
TSN TURNING POINT
The game’s turning point came early in the third. Luke Mylymok hit the inside of the post on a close-range shot, one of two times the Rush did so in the game. Less than a minute later, Tulsa dumped the puck down the ice and benefitted from a lucky bounce. The puck caromed untruly off the glass to the front of the net, leading to a wide-open goal with Matt Radomsky having gone out of the net.
MADE THEM COUNT
The Rush scored three power play goals in a game for the fourth time this season. It is their third time doing so in just the last five weeks. It is the first time the multiple power play goals have accounted for the only goals scored in a game this season.
6-FOR-6
The Rush have distributed their six goals this series as evenly as possible: Rapid City has scored once in each of the six periods.
91-7-13
In four games back together, the trio of Blake Bennett, Deni Goure, and Ryan Wagner has produced nine goals and 21 points. They have five points in each of the two games this series.
ON THE HORIZON
Last season, the Rush’s ECHL single-season records for goals, assists, and points all fell. This season, all three are in danger of being broken again. Blake Bennett is nine goals away from tying his goals record, while Ryan Wagner is four assists and eight points behind Alex Aleardi’s historic 2023-24 season. The Rush have seven games remaining.
